Time for tricks, time for treats,
Time for fun and scares,
Time for friends to meet
In masks and make our hairs
Stand on end
Time to be afraid of the supernatural
Afraid of monsters and witches,
Ghouls and goblins
Of the pagan connotations
Of the ways of old
Time for confusing promiscuity,
Too revealing costumes,
Sensuous corruptions
And things we don’t want to see
However, that’s not the worse.
Time to truly be scared.
To check apples for razor blades,
To check Reeses for green ooze,
To be afraid to let our children out
When predators are about.
However, it is a time to be joyous,
Like Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years
A time to be thankful of being prosperous
A time to look back on our childhood fears
And remind ourselves of how silly we are.
A time to eat candy,
A time to dress dandy,
A time to drink and be merry
A time to ferry
All our troubles away.

Well, since I wanted to do something for the season, I decided to write a poem about Halloween.
In this case, I focused on what Halloween means to some people. To kids, it's a time of fun, to the superstitious, a time to be scared, for some girls, it's the chance to dress in really slutty outfits (as pointed out by Mean Girls), to parents, Halloween can be a time to be cautious and protect their children, but in the end, Halloween is just a chance to have fun and enjoy ourselves.
In this case, I focused on what Halloween means to some people.
